Travelling along the M6, leave
the motorway at Junction 40 and turn onto the A66 to Cockermouth (25 miles). (Travelling from south turn left from the motorway
slip road/travelling from north navigate around the roundabout and once passing the entry and exit roads for the motorway
take the next exit).
As you approach Cockermouth
there is a large island with 'The Wool and Sheep Centre' on your left, turn left here onto the A5086 to Egremont.
After about 5 miles you will
see on your right-hand side a public house called 'The Lamplugh Tip', proceed for a bout a mile and on a sharp right hand
bend you will see a signpost for Ennerdale. Take this left turn.
Follow this road, through the village of
Kirkland, and you will arrive at Ennerdale Bridge. The Shepherds Arms is on the
right hand side in the centre of the village.
